Years ago when portable
computers started becoming more popular, Laptops were designed to be
more powerhouses and notebooks were designed to be for note taking. Over
the years, the distinction between
laptops and notebooks has
faded. Both consumers and manufacturers use the terms synonymously.
Today, no real differences exist. The
Netbooks design however, came out later and has some definite
differences between notebooks and laptops.

The device that is right
for you depends on your budget and on what you plan to do with it. Film
editing, photo editing, number crunching, large programs, higher budget
all fall in the laptop category. School students, e-mail, i-tunes,
Facebook, Youtube, Web research, low budget all fall into the netbook
category.
